Feature Article Dare to Dream Why most people are scared to dream and what to do about it. By Amar Brown Most People do not realize the importance of a dream. That’s why you have a lot of people who are willing settle for mediocrity and conformity before dreaming and risking failure. This fear based mentality is what keeps people from pursuing their dreams.
Two theories come to mind when trying to explain why people would settle for mediocrity and conformity.
First is the theory of the carrot and the stick. People are motivated by one of two forces the act of avoiding pain (the stick) and the pursuit of pleasure (the carrot).
This theory also states that most people the avoidance of pain is a stronger force than the pursuit of pleasure. So if faced with a choice they will almost always choose the avoidance of pain.
Because sometimes the pursuit of pleasure involves some type of perceived pain, (change, lose of comfort level, etc.)
The second theory is the theory of logic vs. emotion. When the logic and emotion are at odd people will mostly decide based on emotion.
So when you combine these what do you have,
If you ask someone if they wanted to be successful they would more then likely say yes (logical), people don’t want success they want what success can give them (the carrot).
But if you ask them why they are not successful the excuses you will get will either be based on remaining in there comfort zone (emotion) and avoiding failure (the stick).
If these very same people had a dream, something worthwhile they were pursuing then they would not be so quick to accept mediocrity and conformity.
Let me tell you what your dreams do for you.
Your dreams will empower you. When you have a dream, you will feel alive, vibrant full of energy. Dreams will help you take on the world.
Dreams give you courage. The bigger you make your dreams the smaller you your fears and obstacles.
Dreams make you more receptive to opportunity. Because our subconscious mind filters information that we receive based on what our conscious mind decides is important, when you think about your dream you open up you perception and reception to resources and opportunities that you never knew existed. Your dreams will help you persevere. When things don’t go your way (and there will be a time when they won’t) and you take setbacks in the pursuit of your dreams (and you will). It will be your dream that will provide you with the fuel you need to keep going.
Just decide that your dream will be bigger then any obstacle and you can move on.
Now that you know what a dream can be and do for you. Let me help you to dream. Here are some steps you can use to get started dreaming if you’ve never had a dream to pursue. If you had a dream and somehow lost it in life, then let me help you find it.
First thing you must do is dare to dream. Yes dare. You must give yourself permission to dream and also the permission to pursue the dream. Allow yourself despite all the things that everyday life may throw at you.
If you do not do this then it makes no sense for you to go past this line. If you will not allow yourself to dream then I couldn’t talk you into dreaming if my life depended on it.
If you are ready and allowed yourself to dream, go somewhere where you can be alone in silence for about 15min. somewhere with a bed or very comfortable chair.
Now sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Clear your mind of everything, then start asking yourself a series of what do you want question and answering them with what you want. And this is for more then material things. (Spouse, lifestyle, travel etc.)
Exp. What do I want in my business? I want to be the number one service provider in my area
What do I want with my personality? I want to be more decisive
It doesn’t matter what the dream is because just keep dreaming and when you run out of dreams then do it again.
For the next 48hrs keep you dreams in the front of your mind. This is how you do it spend 5-10 minutes thinking about your dreams when you wake and when you go to bed.
Since you will be thinking of your dreams the night before you may actually have a dream about your dream, you may not recall it but it is a possibility.
Now whenever you feel negative about a situation or get upset. (and most people feel negative and get upset when they feel like something is an obstacle to their dream.
Think of the dream you feel this situation is an obstacle to. Now that you know your dreams determine if the situation is in fact an obstacle to your dream. Remind yourself that your dreams are bigger then the situation.
Whether the situation is or isn’t an obstacle you must decide to either fix it or forget it. Some problems don’t need an immediate solution and some need none at all. Don’t be a fire fighter. Think of your dreams and move on.
After 48 hrs go back to that quiet place and this time bring a pen and a pad. Now think of your dreams again using the same technique from above.
When you have finished envisioning your dreams, write them down on the pad that you have. This list will sometimes change you may add to it take away from it as you reach those dreams.
Out of your list you will have one or a few dreams that you think about the most circle them.
These are your core dreams. Sometimes they are individual but mostly they are connected to multiple dreams that you have. Pick the one you feel is most important.
Now that you have picked a core dream to follow, think about the first thing you can do to make this dream come true. Now that you know the first thing to do. (don’t think about anything except the first step.
Go out and do step one. Whatever it is you decided the first step was go out and take that step and don’t make any other plans until that one thing is done. Then figure out the next step just one and do that.
You are now on your way to your dreams every step gets you one step closer.
Think about your dreams when you wake up and when you go to sleep and review them once a month or more. Keep them in the front of your mind and before you know it the life of you dreams will be your reality.
| How Do Everyday People Really Turn Dreams Into Reality? (Part 1) By George Parker We hear stories of the great ones who rise from poverty to become multimillionaires. We hear of young inner-city kids who advance to play professional basketball and of poor immigrants who settle in the U.S. and launch prosperous businesses. But, what about the everyday store clerk who wants to get a job as an auto mechanic? How about the single mom who just wants to go back to finish her education or the laid-off factory worker who simply wants another job? These are not the glamorous success stories that we read about. Nevertheless, they are the kinds of success stories that are the dreams of everyday people. Whether you have lofty desires or more modest goals of improving your life, there are time-tested ways to realize your dreams.
How can everyday people capture their dreams like the superstar achievers?
The most important thing is to control your thinking. Thoughts are very powerful. If you look around you, most of the objects that you see began with someone's thoughts. You do not have to look further than this page. Written communication was invented thousands of years ago as a means of storing and transporting information. What began as primitive graphical representations of successful hunts engraved on cave walls evolved over thousands of years into sophisticated communicating systems to store, transport and exchange ideas. The first written communication and the one that you are reading, both began with thoughts.
What gives thoughts power and embodiment?
The key is systematic, dedicated, unrelenting action toward a final outcome. The same techniques used in transforming early thoughts about communicating into modern writing systems can be applied to any dream you might have. But, before we tackle your dreams, it is helpful to understand how to harness thoughts so that they can be applied more successfully.
There are several mental laws that, once understood and used, will greatly improve your chances of bringing your dreams to reality. These laws will give you the power to overcome adversity, to eliminate self-defeating habits, and to increase your self-confidence. People with wisdom have known these laws and passed them along to future generations, but somehow our generation has not seen fit to teach these laws in modern-day school settings. Many of these laws appear in Bible stories or are encapsulated in old wise sayings. Some of the laws are summarized below (read "How Do Everyday People Really Turn Dreams Into Reality? (Part 2)" to see how these laws work):
• What you consistently think about will grow in your life --- you become what you think about most of the time.
• Whatever you send out into the world, in thought and deed, will eventually be returned to you with great accuracy.
• If you want to capture your dream, you must work relentlessly at achieving it.
• Your thoughts are the prophets of the future. How you feel, to a large degree, results from how you think you feel.
• You can control what you think by ridding yourself of negative thoughts and by substituting thoughts that are positive.
• Anything that you believe with intense feeling will become real to you, whether positive or negative.
• Success attracts more success and failure attracts more failure--- the same is true of the mind-sets that give rise to success and failure.
• As you give, so shall you receive --- so, be careful what and how you give.
The next step in realizing your dream is to convert it into a goal, then act on your goal. Here is how:
• Write down your dream as a concrete, measurable goal with a time limit. Be specific. If you want a new job, identify the job you want, where the job is located, which companies offer this type of job, what you need to do to qualify and how to apply. Set a time limit for getting the new job.
• Next, develop a strategy to achieve your goal. Start with the best strategy you can muster, then adjust your strategy as you move along. Your strategy might include getting more training, sending out resumes, networking with friends and acquaintances, doing research, attending meetings or workshops --- the sky is the limit in establishing a strategy.
• Give power to your strategy by developing a concrete plan of action. Your plan should consist of a series of concrete, actionable steps to get from where you are to where you want to be.
• Reduce your action plan to a series of smaller tasks with time limits. Big plans can seem overwhelming and unattainable. Smaller tasks are much more achievable and deliver a sense of accomplishment when completed.
• Each day, work relentlessly at accomplishing your tasks. A convenient way of tackling tasks is to set a weekly plan, then create a to-do list. Give the highest priority to high-impact tasks that will move you closer to your goal. Chip away at your lists every day until you reach your goal.
You now know how everyday people can accomplish what the so-called high-achievers do --- turn dreams into reality. The goals that high-achievers set might seem loftier than yours, but your goals, whatever they are, also qualify as high achievement. You are the star in your own movie and have the right to know how to turn your everyday dreams into realities.

How Do Everyday People Really Turn Dreams Into Reality? (Part 2) By George Parker There are mental laws that high achievers use to transform their dreams into reality. Everyday people can also use these laws to greatly improve their chances of realizing their dreams. These universal laws enable us to overcome adversity, to eliminate self-defeating habits, and to increase our self-confidence.
Generations of wise people have mastered these laws, but somehow our generation has not seen the value of these laws and no formal effort is being made to teach them. There are many mental laws but here are a few of the more powerful ones explained:
Thoughts are powerful. Thoughts that consistently occupy your mind will grow in your life --- you literally become what you think about most of the time. To accomplish your dream, think about it frequently. Vividly see yourself in possession of that which you desire and do so often--- almost to the point of obsession. Conversely, refrain from thinking about that which you do not want, for fear that it will grow and overtake you.
What you send out into the world, in thought or deed, will eventually be returned to you with great accuracy. If you practice generosity and kindness, those will be returned to you. If you work on your dream diligently with dedication, you will receive the fruit of your labor. Eventually, as the Bible points out, you will reap what you sow.
If you want to realize your dream, you must apply massive, unrelenting effort. The old saying, "practice makes perfect", succinctly coins this concept. The vast majority of goals are achieved by executing a few techniques, tasks or strategies over and over again until success is gained. With every execution, you will become more proficient and move a little closer to your goal.
Your thoughts are the predictors of the future. How you think you feel, to a large degree, will determine how you feel. If you want to feel successful, it is in your power to will yourself to think as a success. You must change your attitude to match the circumstances you want to bring about. When you make this change, you will set the stage for realizing your dream.
Anything that you believe with intense feeling will become real to you, whether positive or negative. If you believe intensely that you are the best athlete that ever graced the earth, whether true or not, it will be true to you and, therefore, real. If you can come to believe that which you dream to achieve, it will become real to you and you will take actions to bring it about.
You can only think one thought at a time. Rid yourself of negative thoughts by substituting thoughts that are positive. In doings so, you will become a more success-oriented positive thinker.
Successes and a success attitude attract more success; conversely, failures and an attitude of failure attract more failure. If you really believe you are a hopeless low performer, you will attract others who think the same way and you will bring about low performance to validate your beliefs. Conversely, if you believe you will be successful and view yourself as a successful achiever, you will be attracted to and attract like-minded individuals. You will also attract situations that match your view of success.
As you give of yourself, so shall you receive --- so, be careful what and how you give. When you clearly fix your thoughts on a desired result, and give all of your energy and time to achieving it, all that is good and right will be drawn to you by your own thinking.
To change your life, you must first change the way that you think. These laws guide us in changing our thinking in positive, purposeful ways. By altering your thinking and practicing these laws, you can turn your attention to accomplishing your goals, armed with the same techniques that high performers use. Realize your dreams by using these mental laws along with the goal setting process discussed in "How Do Everyday People Really Turn Dreams Into Reality? (Part 1)".

Hold On Tight To Your Dreams: How To Get What You Want In Life! by: Cucan Pemo How many times have you felt that your dreams weren't ever going to come true? Whether you've tried to make things work and things have failed over and over again, everyone has gone through a crisis of faith to a certain extent, wondering if they just aren't being realistic.
You might be seriously wondering if it's even realistic for you to think about creating wealth and abundance in your life. Here's some food for thought.
1) What you're thinking is creating your reality
The laws of attraction state that what you put out into the universe either in thought or action will be returned to you in kind.
So, thinking that your dream is unrealistic may not be the best way to begin living your dreams. It's a negative thought, after all.
Let's change this thought to the idea of whether or not your goals are reachable. That's a completely different way to look at things ' and it's a step in the right direction.
If you're looking to make a million dollars in a day ' that's not a realistic thought. While it might be a dream of yours and perhaps some people have done this, all in all, this isn't likely to happen.
If you're thinking about having a fancy car in the next hour, that's probably not going to happen either ' even car dealerships can't work that quickly. Sorting out realistic and reachable are two different things.
2) You may be limiting the universe
One of the tricks with setting timelines or creating an 'it has to be done this way' with your dreams is that the universe becomes limited with this energy. You're creating only one way for your dream to happen ' or not.
But this limitation generally causes your dream to become more difficult to reach. You're trying to make things happen YOUR way, rather than allowing the universe to take care of the details.
The universe is a powerful force that can figure out a way for you to reach your dreams, but creating an impossible situation for the dreams to occur is something that might not work out as well as you might hope.
You want to have a certain dream in mind, but then allow the universe to start coming up with the way that it can fulfill it for you.
3) What about having goals?
Goals are still a good thing, however, but it's how you create them that make them work more efficiently. The point is that you need to create goals that you can reach in timelines that you can reach them.
And this is important; you need to do something about it. Many people believe that if they just think successful thoughts, they'll immediately become successful. This is partly true, but it's not the whole truth and it may be where you have failed in the past.
Instead, let's create a realistic goal for your own personal definition of abundance or your dreams.
a) Be specific about what you want and when you want it.
b) Figure out a way to measure your progress
c) Pick a goal that is attainable
d) Again, remember to be realistic about the goal.
e) Try to come up with a timeline
When you stop to break down your ideas of abundance, they will seem a lot less scary.
4) Building up momentum
What you're doing is starting to build energy for the things that you want in your life. You NEED to think about what you want, a lot, in fact.
Instead of just a fleeting thought about your dreams, you need to constantly refer to them so that you can start using the laws of attraction to begin to make them your reality.
Think of it this way, you can want to date the most beautiful man/woman in the world, but if you never head out of your house, is this realistic?
Take some time to define your dreams. Close your eyes and visualize your life with all of the things that you want, all of the things that you really want in your life.
Really stop for a moment to figure out what it is that will make you happiest in this world. When you have that picture clear in your head, think about how you feel, how your life is, and how content you are.
This is a picture that you will want to carry around in your head whenever things begin to feel too 'hard' or complicated.
Being realistic is only part of the equation on the way to your dreams, being clear about what you want is much more important. The universe can only give you what you want if you can name it.
